Coral Shirts Woke Us Up

The air was cool as we stepped on the train. Everyone around us was staring at us. It must have been our fluorescent coral t-shirts that we were wearing. By the time we got off the train, we were joined by others in matching shirts. The spirit of the moment was growing. As we turned the corner, we were met by masses of bright coral.

Today was the Carrera de las Chicas 5K...a women only 5K run. About 5000 women participated in the run through Palermo, a beautiful barrio in Buenos Aires. I've never run a race like this before, it was a great experience.
The best part is that about 2 months ago I told my roommates that I wanted to run a 5K this semester, the catch was that I don't run. When we started "training" I could barely make it 10 minutes without feeling like my insides were going to come out. Now its become a routine part of my week and I'm happy to say, I can now run more than 10 minutes. =) The stretch between the 3 and 4K markers were the hardest, and I thought I would have to walk a little bit. I was so worth it when I crossed the finish line and kept telling myself "I did it! I DID IT!" I finished in 31:55. (Top 2000 out of 5000!) Next goal...7K?

I also want to thank all of you who purchased coffee during February at C&C Coffee. We raised $220 for the children's home here that I have been visiting. (That's almost 900 pesos). Thanks so much!
